It's out there a couple places. :)

Wow! You must be popular or something… :S :)
Do you live on a dirt road?

@S.- Doesn’t that remind you of a question about puddles I once asked? facedesk LOL!

Random question: What was the best compliment you’ve ever received?

For me, it was when I was thirteen and my face broke out. It wasn’t very bad really, but to me it was horrible. I felt ugly all over and it must have shown. An older lady in our church gave me a hug and whispered in my ear that she thought I was beautiful. Since then other people have told me that too, but it never meant so much as when she said it. Now I don’t care so much about how I look… and here's a tip for any other girls who read this: a smile, and a joyful, spirit can make a big difference! :)

I like your new picture, Sarah. Your hair looks darker than it did in the other one… almost red.

Ddd5aeff0d37e8c2aa9782a6316c57a8?s=128&d=mm

Sarah B.

Hmm… darker? I lightened my hair and made it redder a few years back (tragedy). I kind of get the idea that my hair is an unnameable color. I go to say red and get asked, "Is your hair really red?" I don't know! You could call it brown, I guess. Or auburn or copper… what-ever-color-it-looks-to-you-in-this-light.
What about your's? Dark brown, or black?

B5398d36188fb1b2fd2bfc030485b821?s=128&d=mm

Seth W.

Dark brown - though it does look black in the picture. I guess lighting makes a big impact on hair color in pictures. :)

There was a little baby girl born in the middle of the night, and I got to be there! I want to thank God for the wonderful opportunity’s he has given me to learn, and witness these little wonders come into the world. I’m sorry I can’t give you name or tell you more about the baby, but… she is really cute and healthy! :)

Our family has a goat now. She is brown, has two horns, and an ear and 1/2. She is very cute! I would change my avatar to a picture of her… but then people would think I'm a goat. You'll just have to come to Ohio and see her sometime! ;)

Edit BTW, we changed her name to May! May-may is the PNG word for goat.

Hi, Sarah! Hope you and your family are doing well. :-)
A hornet's nest in your chicken house?! That does not sound good!
Do you have any horses? We used to have horses, but we don't anymore.
What do you like to write about in your stories? I like fantasy/science fiction, if that's what you'd call it.
We have a few herbs, too, but not many. Our rosemary died this last winter, but we have oregano, chives, peppermint, orange mint, chocolate mint, sweet annie, comfrey, yarrow, lemon balm, bergamot, rue, catnip, sweet anise, parsley, and I can't think of any more. What kind of herbs do you have?
Do you have a dog?
I read "Treasures in the Snow" a long time ago, and I read "The Chronicles of Narnia" except for "The Last Battle", but I never read the others except the Bible.

Ok, I was just wondering, because I had a dream that you did. :) Thanks for asking for me.

Hi Jessica! It’s good to hear from you. :) I like the list of ten interesting things about yourself. Maybe I’ll do something like that some time… if I can think of ten things. :)
Nope, it wasn’t good. We also had that chicken coop catch fire, but Dad caught it before the whole thing burned down.
No, I don’t have a horse, but my naighbors have them, so I like spending time with their horses. Did you ever show your horses or anything?
I like to write about relationships. I enjoy the dialog in stories and trying to image just what my characters would do or say, based off of what my friends would do/say. I like to write about things that could happen, with some mystery interwoven in the story. When it comes to reading I like to read fantasy and science fiction a lot. :)
Wow, you have quite a few herbs. I don’t have catnip in my herb garden but I have tried to find some in the woods (with out success). Have you ever heard of “The West Ladies”? We like watching their Homestead Blessings video on Herbs. :) I have Basil, peppermint, chive, yarrow, parsley, lavender, oregano, thyme and nasturtiums. I am still expanding my collection. I really enjoy studying the ancient uses of herbs and their back rounds. Do you have a favorite herb? For cooking I like oregano and thyme, but for the history I really like yarrow. Lavender is very interesting too.
No, I don’t have a dog. :( But I would really like to get one someday! I love dogs! Do you have one? If so, what kind is it?

Ha- yeah, I saw that mistake when I took it myself. Can't figure out how to fix it though. :) You did really well!

Edit- The answer to number seven is something that I dearly miss when I chat with people online! It's like having one of my senses (seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling) disabled. Well, maybe it's not quite that bad… :)

Hi, Sarah!
Hope you and your family are doing well. :-)
Sorry it's been so long since I've written; to say that things have been a little hectic around here is putting it lightly.
No, we've never shown our horses, we just took care of them, and I rode our old mare Gabby when she and I were younger and there weren't as many neighbors around (and their dogs). I rode Buddy for a while until he got to feeling better, and got a little too excited when I was on his back once. :-)
No, I personally have never heard of the West Ladies; my mom might've mentioned them at some point, and I just forgot.
I don't think that I have a favorite herb. :-)
Yes, we have a dog: an English mastiff named Tater. That may be one of the biggest dogs that you can get. She's very sweet tempered, and good with kids. She has the patience of Job. :-)
Okay, back to why things were so hectic. Last Sunday, Mom turned on the water faucet in the kitchen and it came off in her hand. There was a three to four foot fountain in our kitchen, and it was from the hot water tap. :-) She put her hand over it to divert the stream into the sink, and Dad came over to take her place so she could turn off the water outside. Meanwhile, Dad has his hand over the water, and it's getting hot enough to start steaming, so I got a bowl and put it on the stream instead of his hand while he turned off the water under the sink. Monday, we replaced the faucet. :-)
Tuesday was our knitting group in Fayetteville. Our knitting teacher is moving away to Pennsylvania because her husband passed away recently, so we visited with her and the other ladies. When we came home, Tucker pointed out a strange snake in our back yard that bit my boot when I put it in front of him. Never could identify him, but he was aggressive.
Wednesday we did a few things around the house: I replaced one of our whiskey-barrel planters that's outside our back door. Dad fixed it where it was off the ground so snakes wouldn't hide under it and drilled holes in the bottom. He also helped me put it in the right place, but it still needs to be filled with dirt.
Yesterday we went back up to Fayetteville to help our knitting teacher clean out her closets. She gave us a lot of fabric, yarn, and other stuff that she was either going to give or throw away. She also took us out to eat. It was fun. :-) The boxes are still in the car, by the way.
Today it was raining and storming this morning, so we couldn't do anything outside. So we stayed in and watched "Courageous" for the first time. I liked it. Then in the afternoon it cleared off.
So, hopefully next week won't be quite so busy. :-) And, hopefully, our Sabbath won't start off with a bang again.
Have you read any good books lately? We're reading "Carajou" by Rutherford Montgomery, and it's not bad. It's better than a lot of books we've read.

Hi Jessica!
Thanks for getting back with me. My family is doing well as I hope you and yours are!
Wow! That sounds like one exciting week! :) Do you have many siblings? Sorry, if you've said so before… with so many people joining the forums at the same time I think I kind of got some of them mixed up in my mind. :/ That happens to me quite often online, but not in person. :)
May I ask how old you are? I'm guessing you are older then I am (18)? :)
The West Ladies are really neat with their "Homestead Blessings" DVD's and stuff! So informative!
Monday I checked my bees. I was not able to find the queen this time but I saw lots of larva so I know she is in there somewhere. :) The last time I checked on them I was able to add another box to the one I already had. I look forward to the next time I add a box (the honey super)… that will be where they will store, and I will harvest the honey!
Do you have pigs (or ever had pigs)? :) I read that the term "piglets" can be offensive to some professional pig farmers… I think that's silly, but whatever! I guess I could get used to calling them "baby pigs." (I wonder if it has anything to do with Winnie-the-Poo?)
Do you grinding your own grain? Do you do sour dough breads at all? We do! My favorite is called "bucket bread"… I like it because it is so easy for our big family! We have a huge bucket (container) for our dough that I just have to pull out of the refrigerate mix with whatever and bake it!
We haven't had a whole lot of water trouble lately… but the caps on the sink that tells you if that particular faucet is hot or cold got switched. I was washing dishes, and kept getting mixed up! I told my sister, "I never realized how much I depend on colors!" :D Finely I couldn't take it anymore and switched them back myself. :)
Thursday my sister and I got up really early and moped, moped, moped the floor! We have a really hard tile floor and today I was sore from kneeling on it for so long. But we got the job done, so we are pleased with our clean floor now! :) I love working with my sister because I know she will do just as good a job as I would, and when we do it together its twice as good…
Knitting group sounds like fun! I always wanted to learn that… I know quite a bit about crochet. I like to do it in the winter… I reasonably made a blanket with hopes to sell it but it didn't turn out the way I was hoping. I messed up somewhere along the line and didn't notice it till I would have to take the whole thing apart to fix it! So I was disappointed… but Dad gave me an idea of putting a border around it and see if it covers up the mistake. Dad is really good at thinking of stuff like that! So far I would say it is the prettiest blanket I have made. :) What do you like to knit most? :)
I watched "Courageous" and several other movies I had never seen before recently when I was staying at my Grandma's place waiting for a birth. I thought it was pretty good. :)
No, I haven't been able to read many books lately, besides my midwifery and doula books. I look forward to doing a little more pleasure reading when I'm done with school (which will be soon!). Then I will be eager to find new books to read! Right now I've just been re-reading all the books on my shelf, but I'm ready for something new! :) Have you ever read any books by Elizabeth George Speare? I love "The Witch of Black Bird Pond" and "The Bronze Bow"!
Keep going strong for the Lord!

Dear Sauroc! You deleted your post! :( I was going to reply and tell you that I can't wait to hear from you again! Well, I'll wait till I get a letter from you and then email. :) Let me know how the wedding goes! Hope to 'see' you here again sometime soon, brother!

Jessica Rankin

Hi, Sarah!
Hope you and your family are doing well. :-) We're doing good here.
Yes, I have two siblings, both older than me. My brother is the oldest, and my sister is married and has two children, so I'm an auntie! :-) And, don't worry, I get very confused on the forums, which I'm sure you've noticed. 'Fraid I wrote an answer to one of Carissa's posts twice! Oh, well. Also, I had to start taking notes about everybody, because, for the life of me, I couldn't keep track of everyone! So, don't feel bad; you're probably doing better than I am. :-)
I personally have never had pigs, but my parents and older siblings did. Apparently from what I've heard, it wasn't a good experience; enough so that my parents never want pigs again. I don't really have a craving to own pigs, either. Do you have pigs? I agree, I think it's silly to get offended from people calling baby pigs piglets. I probably would've made the same mistake. Goats are the same way; at one point it was normal for people to call male goats "billy goats" or "billies" and female goats "nanny goats" or "nannies", and baby goats were called kids. Now, apparently, the proper term is "buck" and "doe", and a female baby goat is a "doeling" and a male baby goat is a "buckling". Why, I don't know, and who came up with that, I have no idea. Personally, I still prefer billies and nannies, especially billies, and baby goats are baby goats. :-) Maybe the proper name thing has something to do with Bambii. :-)
Yes, Mom grinds her own grain and makes sour-dough bread from scratch with starter. I can't believe that you actually have to have dough by the bucket, but I guess I shouldn't be. :-) That is a lot of sour-dough. :-)
I also was surprised that you and your sister were down on your hands and knees on a tile floor to wash it. I bet that was hard on your knees. :-) Makes my knees hurt just thinking about it. We don't have any tile in our house, but linoleum. Underneath the kitchen linoleum is particle-board.
I don't know what I like to knit the most, really. I kinda like a reasonable challenge. Mom likes to crochet quite a bit, but she knits too. I don't really crochet; I prefer to knit.
I read "The Witch of Blackbird Pond" and "The Bronze Bow", and I liked them both. It was quite a while ago that I read them, but if I remember correctly, they were well done. I've got a list of books that I thought were good on my "Introduce Yourself" page, if you're still looking for something new. You've probably already seen it, but just in case you hadn't, I thought I'd mention it. :-) We're reading a book now called "A Father's Promise", and it's not bad. It's based in Poland during World War II, and the main character is half Jewish, so it's pretty sad. It's well written, but it's sad. I'm also reading a book called, "Writing Magic" bu Gail Carson Levine, and it's not bad either. It's a book that tries to tell you how to write better; I don't agree with everything she says, by any means, but personally I think that it's got some good information in there.
What country were you sent to when you were a missionary kid for four years?
Have you started your new story yet?
How are your bees and new goat doing? By the way, what kind of goat is it?
How old am I? ^Hmmmmmmm…..^ Younger the most, older than some. :-) It usually amuses me when people try to guess my age. Anyone else reading this can guess my age, too, and maybe, just maybe, I'll tell you how old I am. Don't worry; I won't be offended by your guesses. :-)

I'm really bad at guessing girls' ages, but I'm going with either 15 or 17 - I can't tell which one. It would be easier if you put up another picture of yourself… :)

I'm going to get my guess in and reply to the rest of your post later. ;) I'm going to guess (based off of what I know about you) 19 or 20. :D

I was considering that (my initial thought was 19), but the "Younger than most" part dissuaded me.
