Bible Quiz Questions
Started by 2 Corinthians 5:17His Servant
In answer to your question, Emily - "What was the name of Jonathan's son (who King David helped)?" The answer is Mephibosheth! Though, I'm afraid that's not the right spelling for it…
Emily H
Right!!! And that is the right spelling (I'm pretty sure:). :)
His Servant
Which book of the Bible mentions specifically about lions, lizards, ants, eagles, serpents, roosters and locusts? :)
2 Corinthians 5:17
Hmmmm….Proverbs?
Emily H
Isaiah, Daniel, Revelation???? I have no clue. :)
@Rachel, That's so neat you live that close to Nationals!!! :)
His Servant
Rachel is correct – it's Proverbs! :)
Anymore questions, anyone?
2 Corinthians 5:17
Sarah, Hagar, Keturah. What do these 3 women have in common?
biblebee
They were all wives of Abraham…?
Who pulled Jeremiah out of the cistern?
2 Corinthians 5:17
Carissa - yup!
SoulWinner
Technically they were all mothers of Abrahams children. Hagar wasn't his wife, right?
2 Corinthians 5:17
Yes, you're right.
Emily H
That's pretty cool, I'll have to look for all those when we get to Proverbs. =D
What where Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego's real names?
What was Daniel's Babylonian name?
And I think this one got lost:)
Who threw dirt and rocks at King David?
His Servant
Well, I can't quite remember Daniel's Babylonian name, but it did start with any 's', didn't it? :)
I don't think I have any answer to your other questions. I always thought it was interesting that Daniel always went by his real name but Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego went by their Babylonian names :)
Here's a question: How much did Absalom's hair weigh?
SavedByGrace
I don't know what Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego's real names were, but I know that Daniel's Babylonian name was Belteshazzar. Also, even though I just read the chapter about the man who threw rocks and dirt at David a few days ago, I can only remember that his name started with an "S."
And for Bethany's question, Absalom's hair weighed five pounds–until he cut it off and let it grow again. :)
His Servant
So, 5 pounds is the same as 200 shekels? Interesting. I had always wondered how many pounds it was, but never could seem to find it out! :)
I'll be on the look out for the man who threw rocks and dirt at David!
SavedByGrace
My Bible always has notes at the bottom of the page when things like shekels or cubits are in the text, saying exactly how many pounds (and kilograms) and feet (and meters) it is. :) It's very helpful for picturing how big or long something in the Bible really is. :)
His Servant
Mine has notes to, but never in pounds. It's normally in ounces or grams….not to helpful, sometimes! Are you reading out of the ESV now?
SavedByGrace
No, I'm not reading the ESV yet… still have to wait until I get a John MacArthur ESV Study Bible! :)
Matthew Minica
Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego's Hebrew names were Mishael, Hanani and Azariah.
Shimei threw dirt and rocks at King David.
Answers to my questions:
Othniel was the first judge of Israel.
Saul was from Benjamin.
Samson was from Dan.
Caleb was from Judah.
The Bible doesn't specifically mention Elijah's tribe, but he was from Gilead, which is in Manasseh, so that is probably his tribe.
The last question was a trick question. As far as I know, Elisha's tribal affiliation is not known. (Does someone want to correct me on this?)
Emily H
Bethany: I always thought that was interesting too, about Daniel and his friend's names.. :)
SBG & Matthew: Yep!
Okay, yeah, we were reading about Elijah, and I was trying to find out what tribe he was from and all it said was he was a Tishbite from Gilead. I was thinking "what on earth is a Tishbite??" :)
This chart book we have says Elisha was from Abel Meholah, but I don't know where that is, and the map I'm looking at isn't very detailed.
Who made an axe head swim(or float)?
Who was Zaphnath-paaneah, who was his wife and what were their son's names?
Matthew Minica
First question: Elisha made an axe head float. Well, actually God did, but Elisha was the one that performed the miracle. :)
Second question: Zaphnath-paaneah was the name that Pharaoh gave Joseph after he interpreted Pharaoh's dreams. One of his sons was Gershon (Gershom?) and I have no idea about his wife or other sons.
Emily H
Yeah, I wasn't quite sure how I should word that. :P But you're right. :)
Right!! Zaphnath-paaneah was Joseph, but his only sons I know of were Ephraim and Manasseh…
His wife's name was Asenath, daughter of Poti-pherah, priest of On.
I'm at a loss for more questions at the moment… :P
um…what was Elisha's servant's name?
Matthew Minica
Oh boy, was I confused. I mixed Joseph up with Moses. I knew that Joseph's sons were Ephraim and Manasseh, but I wasn't thinking straight. :P
Gehazi, I think? Or was that Elijah?
Here's a question: Saul was the first true king of Israel, because he was chosen of God. However, before Saul's time there was a man who anointed himself king and did rule for a short time. What was his name?
Oh, and another one: Which two neighboring nations with Israel were the descendants of Lot?
Emily H
Okay. That name sounded really familiar to me but I couldn't remember who it was.
No, Gehazi is right. :) What happened to him?
Ugh, I sort of remember the story but not his name…. :)
And I have no idea about your second question… Unless one's Moab. I think they were descendants of Lot, right? But I don't know where Moab is geographically. :P
Who in the Old Testament had a name that meant the same as Jesus' name does?
After the kingdom of Israel was divided into Israel and Judah, how many "good" kings reigned over Israel?
Who are the three people who were buried at the end of the book of Joshua, and where were they buried?
admin
Gehazi got leprosy.
Joshua's name has the same meaning as Jesus… i think!
There was never any good kings over Israel.
And I'd Prefer not to answer the last one, because I don't know the answer, and I probably couldn't spell their names anyway!
Dani(elle)
They have the same meaning I think, and I think they r said the same in Hebrew.
Emily H
Yep!!!
Okay, but I'm fairly sure you could spell their names. :) I'll wait till later to post who they were though, in case someone else knows.
@Danielle, I think so too, but I'd have to check again to be 100% sure.
What other names are used for Joshua in the Bible? I can think of three.
What did Methuselah's name mean?
admin
When I die it shall come?
Emily H
Yep! I thought that was so cool when I learned that. :)
SavedByGrace
Actually, one of the people who was buried at the end of Joshua had died long before…. :)
Emily H
Oh oops! Yeah…I'll change that. :P Thanks for pointing that out. :)
Matthew Minica
I never knew that! That's such a cool prophetic name! :D
@Emily: Jehoshua was one of Joshua's other names… I can't think of the others.
BTW, people who don't use KJV may not be able to answer that question. Other versions usually use one spelling for a specific name. Like, Elijah is called Elias in the New Testament… well, I think the other versions use Elijah everywhere.
His Servant
Here's a question for y'all? Are you just trying to come up with the most difficult questions you can? Almost on every one of the questions (save a couple) I have no clue to the answers! Y'all must be a lot more familiar with your Bible than I am.
Here's a few more:
Who was David's counselor that Absalom sent for?
What man stayed with David when he fled, though David didn't want him to stay with him (David)?
Who was the fourth friend of Job?
What passage is a cross reference for Hebrews 4:4-10 (I expect every Bible Bee-er to get this question!)
Emily H
Oh yeah, you're right! I totally forgot about that.
@Bethany: And you think our questions are hard??? :P

Who was Mnason, and who was his father?
SavedByGrace
One of the people chosen by the church at Antioch for something, I think… And was his father Herod the tetrarch? I could be thinking of someone totally different….
EDIT–Okay, I just looked him up and found that I was completely wrong and was mixing him up with Manaen. :) But I couldn't find who Mnason's father was…
admin
If nobody else get it, i'll post the answer.
Dani(elle)
Jacob? Or am I thinking of Manasa.
SavedByGrace
Actually, the father of Manasseh is Joseph. :) But Jacob sorta did adopt him, so I guess you could say that…
Emily H
here's a better question that shouldn't be version specific.
What was Joshua's name before Moses changed it?
2 Corinthians 5:17
Joshua had a different name?!
SavedByGrace
I remember reading about that somewhere, but I don't remember what his name used to be. :)
Ruth Smith
"There went with us also certain of the disciples of Caesarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge." His father is not expressly mentioned as far as I could tell:)
admin
Okay, I am feeling really dumb right now! I read the passage quickly and I thought his father was Cyprus!!! I seriously thought, "That's strange to name a child after an island!"
But you're right!!!
admin
Here's a quiz question:
In what chapter of what book were the disciples first called Christians? And in what region?
ZachB
In Acts?
admin
Yep, in Acts. What chapter? ;) (Ramping it up to the next level! ;) )
admin
Acts…. but do you know the region??? Chapter…. I don't know… ;P I would guess around the middle of the book.
biblebee
Just a guess: Acts 7 or 8?? I have no clue what region.
