California! Lol :) have u ever been to Hollywood? Lol jk
Emily H
No, I don't think so. :P Haha. :)
admin
@Emily: I was born and raised in California and I'm a Californian at heart… I'm proud of it! :D It's in my blood!
admin
Yeah… CA is pretty cool… I mean, not politically!
biblebee
I've been to CA once but I don't remember it :D
Dani(elle)
Lol do you live by the beach? ;)
Emily H
Totally agree. :)
@Bethany: =D It's not that I don't like CA, I don't like CA politics, but it's a really nice place to live….not many bugs, nice weather, quite a variety of scenery, etc., etc. It's just that I like Texas best, and a lot more than CA. =D
@Danielle: We're a couple hours from the beach, we live in the mountains. :)
Emily H
Jordan, you said you'd gone to D.C., were you able to look around at all? If so, what did you see there?
admin
I saw the international terminal of Dulles airport, and I walked up and down it on a LONG layover! I think I walked a few miles!
And they do have a cool transportation train in the airport that we used!
Yeah, so that's my view of DC!
Emily H
Hopefully it was a REALLY cool airport. Wait, they had a train at the airport??? We were only there for a few days, so mostly we just saw things as we walked by.
admin
Yeah… it was all under the tarmac and it was ttly high-speed… so it was pretty cool… but my dad and I were on it and we realized that it wasn't manned, and that there were other trains on the same track…
We were just goofing around with paranoia ! Nothing serious!
Emily H
Lol, wow, that does sound cool. :) How did you get on the train if it wasn't manned?? Did the train go from one terminal to the next? (I think that's what it's called…)
Ruth Smith
I've been in and out of the DC airport 5 times in the last 6 months. It's a big airport, and let me just say that their security is tight, so don't try to take a full water bottle in your bag, or opt out of the body scanners down like I did. We almost missed one of our flights, and I got in lots of trouble. But, yes, DC is a big airport, and its personally not one of my favorites :)
admin
I never take full water bottles in my bag!!!
I got through with out going through the body scanners by just being shrewd! You just have to time things right and it works fine! Except for the time my dad and I were flying back from the BB and we HAD to opt out in Knoxville… That was weird… Did I ever tell you about that experience?
@Emily: It's on a timer… Atlanta has one too as well as Chicago… (I think.)
Emily H
Oooh, okay, that makes sense.
admin
Funny thing is, you do get to see the Newton laws in action when the train goes from 0 to about 50 mph in about 5 seconds… it like just about lands you on the floor! LOL!
Emily H
Hahaha!!! That sounds like SO much fun! =D
SavedByGrace
Man, from what I've heard about airports, I don't know if I ever want to go to one! :P And what exactly is wrong with having a full water bottle?
admin
Well, they don't let you take them past the check points… Who knows, you might be carrying explosive liquid in it!!! ;)
You've never been to an airport?!?!?! Air travel is the BEST!
Ruth Smith
Well, I don't know if I should tell you this, but I have gotten a full water bottle past security twice. Once in Denver, and once in Nashville:)
I tried it recently, in Norfolk, which was the smallest airport I've been in, and they found it, so I have kind of given up on it, as it is easier to take an empty water bottle, and fill it at the water fountain on the other side of security.
Anyhow, enough about water bottles:)
SavedByGrace
I've just never really gone anywhere that requires air travel. We don't travel a whole lot, though I'd really like to… :)
God's Maiden of Virtue
Plus, when you live in a big family, travel can be quite hard….especially by plane….:)
admin
Yeah!!! we've taken nine people on a plane… that was sort of difficult! Normally, we travel by air when parts of the family are going places..
Dani(elle)
That sounds hectic. :)
admin
Ammmm Yeah… it was! Specially with layovers!
Dani(elle)
Ouch! That's probably the bad part about flying right? :)
SavedByGrace
I can't imagine how the Duggars do it… :D
MilesChristiSum
Yes this is the way that I fly on an airplane, fine for the bush planes in AK, but not so good when we go outside (of AK). A backpack stuffed to bursting (literally) mostly with the school books that I won't be using anytime soon, but hey they charge for overweight in the checked luggage, so heavy stuff goes in the carryon. Also a Carharrt coat and hat and gloves and bunny boots (rubber army surplus boots rated to who-knows how much below zero, at least 40 or 50). Then we fly out of Fairbanks or Anchorage and all the gear is fine here, but where do we go? Phoenix AZ airport then Palm Springs CA. …
Dani(elle)
Lol. Just curious… Is that like the eye of Sauron or something in your 'profile' pic? :)
Hiruko Kagetane
It's fireworks Danielle. Sauron's eye would be way more precise, and wouldn't be exploding.
ZachB
The most we travel is when we go down to Bible Bee Nationals….
admin
Once I was like five minutes from Mexico… And I used to live in Mexical!
Ruth Smith
I've been to Canada numerous times, but I don't think Mexico would be my preferred spot to visit:)
admin
Well, it is for some people… Ammm, I mean, Belize is!
His Servant
Do you like Mexican food, Jordan?
admin
Actually, I do… But then I grew up in CA and we ate Mexican food like crazy.. so I grew up with it!
We still eat it, too! We're all into spicy foods!
His Servant
Ahh! I like spicy foods so much as well…did you hear about my making the spicy chili under the "Favorite Foods" thread? :) I just wish that my whole family enjoyed it as much as I did…the liking of spicy foods, that is!
admin
No, I'll have to find that! One time Bethany made some spicy soup that she and I tasted and it was really good… Then we both forgot about it. At dinner time everyone complained that their throats were burning up!
Yeah, it was supposedly the world hottest hot sauce!
His Servant
Yeah, I used chipotle chili powder…which is about 10 times hotter than normal. No one really cared for it except my mom, myself and my little brother…and we thought it was great :)
admin
Haha!
Ruth Smith
Did you ever taste Ian's Sudden Death hot sauce? Just one drop of it makes your eyes water:)
admin
Nope…. But I'm not sure if I'd want to. There are some hot sauces that a good, and then some that are just TOO HOT!
Ruth Smith
Maybe I'll bring it over for you to try. It would definitely be in the TOO HOT category:)
biblebee
Just 10 times hotter??!!
Dani(elle)
Wait, is it really the eye or r u being sarcastic?
MilesChristiSum
That's really what that is.
Dani(elle)
Oh ok cool!! Wait r u saying it's really fireworks or it's really the eye?!? facepalm I'm so confused.
Hiruko Kagetane
blinks It's fireworks Danielle. Seriously.
Dani(elle)
Whose being sarcastic here!!!!! Help! Someone just tell me the truth!! Lol
Hiruko Kagetane
I'm telling the truth. MCS is being sarcastic! ;-)
