Guys, please do not discuss test questions in specificity. You may be able to discuss things generally, like that the test was hard, but you may be pushing the limits if you are targeting questions specifically.

Has anyone recently read the rules on this?

There was a problem last year where people were posting questions to Quizlet with word-for-word accuracy and maybe posting the answers too, I don't remember. (I did not see the set.) But the Bible Bee sent out an email about it. I don't remember if someone was disqualified or not, but they were working with the Quizlet team to figure out what happened. (Someone may have stolen a test.) I will find that email and see what exactly the rules are.

EDIT: I'm not entirely sure what is allowed and what is not, but it's better to be safe than sorry. So I wouldn't discuss specific questions. Maybe it's OK, but I don't know.

And I just checked, the email from last year said that 67 questions were stolen and posted on Quizlet.

[If anyone knows the rules around this, it'd be helpful to get more clarification. Thanks.]

For orals I don't know how much time I had left…but I didn't see my two minute sign. I had 20 minutes left for the written test.

I've gotten the impression that they may possibly re-use the tests sometime in the future. That's probably why they also require that you don't write on your copy of the test. They'll probably run out of books of the Bible to work with at some point, and then they'll recycle ones they've done in the past.

COS - Hmm… I usually do write in my test booklet, and have asked every year (except this year) if it's allowed, and always hear that it is. I did a Google and found this page, which has the question on it (fifth question down) from 2010; and the answer then was, "Yes," you can write in your written test book.

You're probably right about cycling, though.

Actually, no one stole the test and posted it on quizlet (that is, in the formal sense of the word). The set asked people to post the questions they remembered on the test as a study help for nationals (no one remembered the rules, which at the time were quite vague). About fifteen people had posted by the time the SKF found it and erased it. Still, the rules were pretty vague back then, and no one knew that simply using their memories as a help would be illegal. Just a background in that whole issue. :)

Now we know, though, that it is not allowed (the rules are very clear now). We should thus do our best to follow the rules and to always honor God in our actions. :)

Okay. I was totally unaware of that. That could have been helpful to know, as it would have been easier to keep track of questions I wanted to go back and take another look at.

I think I probably just assumed that I couldn't write on it because with any other standardized test I've taken, it was forbidden, since they would be re-used across the country. So I suppose my brain made it up that that principle applied to the Bible Bee as well. I don't know.

But thanks for letting me know what you've heard! :)

Alex, I have been able to write in the test booklet every year. But this year they didn't let me write in it. It doesn't say in the rules that you can't though… That threw me off a lot because I always write my answer in the book.

No, there's to be no discussion of test materials period. At least, that's my understanding. I usually talk about the test verbally amongst my fellow test-takers, but apparently we are not permitted to distribute any written information about the test questions at any time.

I think even then they won't allow it to be posted online. I am sure you are allowed to talk about the questions (first amendment rights), but I think that the rules mean that you can't post them online or publish them in any format.

Well, I started reading all of these pages, and then realized there were 23…so I gave up :D

Well, first of all, sorry I wasn't on here sooner!!!! By the time we left from our local bee it was already about 5:00, because my little sister hurt her hand on the monkey bars :)
I went to bed around 12:30, but I couldn't go to sleep for a long time, and I kept waking up several times, and I had to wake up at 6:15, so I couldn't focus on the written at all :( I got through with one minute left, and I was able to look over two or three more questions, but that was basically it. I couldn't believe how hard it was, though! The questions were super-vague. There wasn't one instance where they said, "According to 1 John 3:13…"; instead, they said, "According to 1 John 3…". And then they rephrased EVERYTHING! It was really annoying :D
I think I did well on orals though…I didn't see them take anything off :) Then we went down into the basement and played apples-to-apples Bible version lol.
After lunch and an AWESOME Bible Bee cake, we had a final challenge round. First, they announced the top five winners in each division, and then they had each division come up and do the final round. My little sister Katelyn got third in Primaries by score, and fifth by final round ;)
Then they called up Juniors. There were only 8 Juniors, and I thought I might make it up onstage, but I was 75% sure that I wasn't going to be first because of the written test. I just kept freezing up over and over again and asking myself what in the world I was doing here and thinking, "This is not how it's supposed to go…" :D but my sister Erin got fourth place and I got first! PTL! I was kind of shocked and kind of like, well now I have to quote verses again. :D
After they ran out of verses, they asked us Bible Knowledge Questions. Super-grill mode :) I got two multiple-choice cross-reference questions, and there seems like there was another one, but I don't remember it. All of it is a blur now =)
So yeah. I don't think I'm going to do that well in the rankings. Hopefully I'll just make it to Nationals :) and they wouldn't let me know the score. I wish I did :)

Sounds like you did good. :)
I didn't get back home until 5 this evening. Kinda Glad it's over.

I'll be off Memverse for a few days, won't be here when the scores are released. Try to raise as much ruckus on here about the scores as you did last year. JK lol

Edit: ha ha Ms. Del Toro, you think you did bad, but I know I did bad. lol not joking this time, though I don't know the scores.
