Some musical advice: Make out your Chopin Liszt early before Debussy season, when you have time to check out Verdi good bargains are, can still get gifts Faure good price, not have to Handel large crowds and have time to give Bach things you decide you don't want.

BTW, Noah, I just saw The Curse of the Black Pearl yesterday. All your references to the movie made more sense after seeing it. ;)

I haven't seen the Pirates of the Caribbean, but I really like the music and can play some on the piano. I LOVE the LotR soundtrack! My grandma got me all three movie soundtracks for my birthday last year… :)

'What Shall We Die For' is like one of the most epic soundtrack songs ever. I'm not sure which Pirates it's from though. I've only seen the first one. :)
IKR??!! THE LOTR SOUND TRACK IS SOOO EPIC!!! lol

I'm currently working on polishing Leaves of Green by Robert Vandall for a critiqued recital in January. I am also doing the Entertainer, but that's more of a long-term project, if you know what I mean. Especially since my hands are comparatively small. ;-)
Bethany, don't you dare tell Jordan about that last sentence!

And you think my hands are large and therefore I can not sympathize with your painful predicament?! :P Nay, nay, my friend. I understand and suffer as dost thou. ;)
Before I met the-person-that-has-a-nickname-with-two-M's, insert uncontrollable coughing fit I had never found anyone with smaller hands than me… ;)
This might brighten your day:

(BTW: do you do ballet?)

I'm working on "Rhapsody Brilliante" by Melody Bober and a really hard & dramatic version of Carol of the Bells for our recital next week. :)

Aw, I wish I could learn a hard and dramatic piece of Carol of the Bells – I really like the song… :)

@Rachel: I'm working on two different pieces, for two different recitals, at two different nursing homes :D Oh, and they are: It Came Upon a Midnight Clear and We Wish You a Merry Christmas (with four movements).
Besides those, I've been working on a lot of hymns, as just started playing every so often for church! :)

Well, I learned the Prelude in A Major by Chopin a couple of days ago. :P lol
I am also working on a Prelude by Rachmaninoff and a Nocturne by Chopin. I ordered two big books by Rachmaninoff and Chopin a few weeks ago, and I hope they will keep me busy for a while. :)

Oh, that is an awesome piece!
I'm working mainly on Kriesler's Praeludium and Allegro (another awesome piece) and Beethoven's Spring Sonata.
For piano… I'm working on an arrangement of I See The Light because my two siblings are singing it as a duet. ;)

Yep, we all sing. Only Eden has classical vocal training (the rest… just coaching).
I'm an alto and it is a very noble calling. ;)

True, true. Anyone with a high enough voice and a decent ear can sing soprano; it takes true talent and at least some brain cells to sing alto.

I love music too! I play piano and compete in Guild and Federation, its a ton of work but I love (almost) every minute of it! ;-)

Exactly. :) And there is nothing quite like sight-reading a whole cantata at the choir's dress rehearsal. :P
I really enjoy singing alto.

It went great! I actually played quite a bit. I first played three short pieces from the Nutcracker Suite for a prelude - March, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Dance of the Reed Flutes. Then when the orchestral part was to begin, my teacher was nowhere to be found, so I decided to go up to the piano again and managed to get through Solace by Joplin, and Fur Elise by Beethoven - those were the first pieces I thought of that were appropriate. :P Then the orchestra groups played their pieces. Afterward, we had an intermission, during which I played my composition "Prelude in E Flat Minor", as well as some improvisation. After the intermission was the piano part of the recital, and for that I played Polonaise in C Sharp Minor by Chopin. Then I did some more improv for a postlude.
So, yeah, I guess you could say my teacher intended me to be the star of the show (that's a fact, not at all intended to be a boastful comment). Except for the Chopin piece, all of that was extra stuff by my teacher's request. I'm really trying not to let it all go to my head! :)

That sounds fun! :D This weekend our orchestra will perform The Nutcracker too, as well as several other pieces, like Carol of the Bells and Canon in D.

Did you get any recordings of the performance?
