Too bad. Do you like techno?
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Phenomenon: Narnia has such a wonderfulamazing theme song, but it's just the same couple lines played over and over! Amazing what instrumentation will do.
And it's a good thing they have great music- that's what completely makes a movie for me.
Anne Shirley
am I way too late to join this thing????

No, this is random thoughts about music. If you want an ongoing discussion, go to the Music thread under Theology Discussions. You'll probably find it interesting with lots of things to disagree on, which, unfortunately, is what some of us do best, which is not the way it should be… sigh
can't wait for heaven

Because people you disagree with won't be there?!

darkness would fall,
we never quite thought we could lose it all,
READY, AIM, FIRE!

Hmm…I wonder who caused most of the disagreements?
Sarah
Just leave her alone, you guys! How would you like it if we all continually pestered you whenever we disagreed with you?
God's Maiden of Virtue
Question for you pianists: When you're learning a piece, how do you personally get from knowing how to play it, to getting the hang of it?
biblebee
For me…I don't. I sit down play a piece and then can't get the "hang of it". =/
God's Maiden of Virtue
That's kind of how I'm feeling right now…but really because I'm learning so many pieces right now.
^(Rage Over a Lost Penny, Sonata K. 545, Maple Leaf Rag, Golliwog's Cakewalk, Moonlight Sonata, etc.)^
biblebee
Mhmm. I'm "trying" to learn a lot of pieces right now as well. But then I never finish them. =/

Does anybody know where I can find small-lined paper for writing music in? My current notebook has a lot of space left, but the staves are way, way, WAY too big. :-)
Seth W.
You can print off custom sheet music at blanksheetmusic.net - that's where I get all my staff paper.

Wow, those are some really challenging pieces - that's great if you are able to play them! (I don't think I'm quite to that level yet - but working on it. ) Are you working on the whole "Moonlight Sonata", or focusing on the first movement?
Mommy's Helper
By the name… somehow it sounds like some sort of music my parents would not want me to listen to.
Margaret Eddy
The third movement of "Moonlight" is awesome.
God's Maiden of Virtue
Yeah…I'm having a hard time mastering a page so that I can move on to the next and so on; making learning them a very slow process.
I'm just working on the first movement of "Moonlight Sonata", but it is actually in a different key than the original, as the original is still a bit advanced for me (C# major) and my hands a bit too small. :|
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Does anyone know where to find good, free or cheap Handel sheet music, particularly vocal? Does anyone know if he wrote any solos?
2 Corinthians 5:17
Here's a whole bunch of Handel's Messiah sheet music…free! I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for though.

ArtSongCentral.com has a lot of good FREE sheet music - it's my primary resource for vocal music. Click the "Song Index" tab and scroll down, there's about a dozen songs by Handel. You could also hover over the "Browse By Type" tab and click on your voice type - it will give you a smaller but possibly more practical list to chose from.
Hope that helps! Feel free to ask me about any music questions you may have - it's a subject I love discussing. :)

Yes - C# Major is the bane of us non-advanced pianists. :) I have never really understood why some of the classical composers really like that key - I guess it's probably the same mysterious reason that so many church choral composers like Ab Major.
God's Maiden of Virtue
Yeah really =) Lately, I've been noticing that Debussy is a composer who really enjoys keys with lots of flats (and lots of accidentals, and then naturals just to throw you off ;-). :P It drives me crazy sometimes. Lol
Do you enjoy playing pieces with lots of accidentals and naturals?
Abigail Rose
Anybuddy else play drums?
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Thanks- I already have the Messiah score! :)
@seth: I'll check it out!
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Interesting fact: Bach died while composing the first piece of music dedicated to himself.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Thanks for the link- it looks really neat; I can't wait to explore it more!

Numme.
Sarah B.
We have drums, but no one really plays them right now, because they are in a out of the way place in the house. Maybe someday we will get the out again. Ryan will probably play them, he is good with just about anything he tries to play. :)
Mommy's Helper
My grandpa has big drums in his garage.
Abigail Rose
Cools! We can teach Ryan! It will be epic!
Sarah B.
He would love that I'm sure! :) Do you play any other instruments?
Abigail Rose
Little bit of guitar, and piano. :)
Sarah B.
Ryan is really good on the guitar, and he knows quite a bit of piano too!
Dose Marissa play anything? :)
Abigail Rose
No she don't :p
Abigail Rose

This is a really good website with TONS of free music. You can choose from a lot of different instruments.
Christine Daaé (Dani the Older)
Mom got a viola on Wednesday!!! It's actually a tiny bit too big for her, but it fits me perfectly!!!
Courtney M.
is so jealous
I could actually get one whenever, but I really should focus on harp for another year first.
