I didn't usually fill out the ACTS prayer (I couldn't ever fit my prayers onto those few lines anyway…), although it is a great model. I didn't know Mrs. Mcmahan well enough to remember her voice. :P I might have done an Apply once or twice…

What I feel guilty about is getting frustrated with the Bible Bee, especially the people behind it, when they make changes I don't like. It's hard to understand why they did what they did, and we don't know how it will turn out. As someone said earlier, lots of prayer and hard work went into this, and they had to work around less-than-ideal circumstances.

I didn't get to know Mrs. McMahan until last fall. I did write in the ACTS prayer lines, but it usually went way out of the lines :). I did a few Applies, especially the ones that I would do anyway (e. g., plant something).

I guess "forced" isn't exactly the right word. It just seems that their options were very limited and they had to make some quick decisions. He said early on that they really wanted to keep it similar to previous years but unfortunately were not able to. I don't really know the details.

I did at the locals level, my sister made it to Nationals, though.

That's what I was thinking. Those changes were just slimming down the materials to manageable size. This is a new format for studying and for testing.

Understood. I definitely didn't like doing orals in front of people for Nationals, and getting different passages, either. Furthermore if I was still in the Bible Bee I would likely be writing a griping poem right now about all things Texas. However, I am part of the Vintage '14 of the McMahan Dynasty, so I am sitting here calmly and objectively giving you all advice on being calm and objective.

I don't really remember because I was young enough that I wasn't on the internet checking up on these things, I only had one year to compare it against, and I completely disregarded the necessity of the sword study in 2010, which was detrimental to qualifying for Nationals.

Oh, that's true about the 2010 Sword Study. In 2009 I hardly did the study at all and still made Nationals; in 2010 that wouldn't have worked at all.

I remember liking the 2009 version of Bible Bee so much that, even though I did terribly that year, I really wanted to do it again. So I did, and I qualified in 2010. :P

Well, we shall see what we shall see. The Bible Bee still seeks to glorify God through family discipleship, so if they do that, even with all the changes, BB will still be great!
