I agree. :P :) Hmm, what about romance?
Depends on the situation and the characters involved. It can be appropriate, in some settings.

Okay. I really don't like it when, like in Little House on the Prairie, there are two actors getting involved physically and they're not married.

If you've seen as many as you say you have, you'll know that not every game complete trash. There are many, many, good games out there.

How old are you, BTW?

I understand, and I applaud the Sherwood films for being able to convey a sense of closeness between unmarried actors without going too far.

There are some good ones, but not that many. There are so many subtle, underlying messages in them.

Besides, they're really a waste of time. Go make a table in the woodshop, or bake bread to sell at the farmer's market. Take care of animals. Learn an instrument!

If I know who you are, maybe I'll tell you.

  1. Still generalizing.
  2. Are we going back to the "waste of time" argument? ANYTHING can be a waste of time. Why is it *so* bad for me to play a video game, but not as bad for me to watch a movie, or build with LEGO, or something?

  3. I am the shadow, that stalks you at night. I am the whisper, that haunts your thoughts. I am the memory of things long forgotten, returned to torment you. I am…what I am.

  1. There's not that much exception.
  2. Watching a movie is a waste of time. But it's not as addictive as video games, and if you're watching a good one, it's beneficial. But I don't watch movies more than once a month, usually a lot less. EDIT: And LEGOS are wonderful. They are educational, and it's a whole lot more beneficial to build brain cells than kill them.
  3. Then you already know how old I am :P

  1. Can you prove that? Can you? How many video games have _you_ watched critically?

  2. Why? Why is watching a movie less of a waste of time? A. They're less addicting, so you do spend less time on them, and B. There are some beneficial ones. It's very barely less of a waste of time, though, so I limit it.

Honestly, I'm a stickler over wasted time. It's not worth entertaining yourself, because you lose so much precious time and learning.

Also, you can watch a movie over and over and over, not necessarily spending less time on them. Plus, a video game is basically a movie in which you are a character. B) There are beneficial video games as well. Party games are great for groups, strategy games are wonderful for tactical thinking, and FPS and RPG games teach decision-making and critical thinking on the fly. Okay. Which, could be over a high-tech "relic", from the Pre-Flood age, which would explain why the whole "Apple of Eden" thing is so convoluted and crazy. Either way, I'm still on the fence about those games, but I wouldn't fault anyone for playing them. Plus, you're generalizing that all games teach bad things. Really? So, me playing the LEGO Movie game is going to teach me bad things? Or Super Mario 3D World? Okay. Then, why are you here on the Forums, wasting time? GO AND READ THINE BIBLE WOMAN! *I'm exercising logic :)* So do I, when playing a game with/against a friend. Is either situation more time-wasting?

Or have Kirk Cameron's real wife step in:):) But I agree, I think the romance in the Sherwood movies is perfectly fine. When it's overly mushy and not done in a God-honouring way, I don't think that's appropriate.

You're right. ANYTHING can be a waste of time. BUT - we can't kill all the birds with one shot. One step at a time. If something is a waste of time, this is not a valid argument: that we can still do it because there are other things that are just as much a waste of time.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm asking why she (and you, to some extent) make video games this thing, that is SO disturbingly time-wasting that nothing else compares. Why is a video game more of a time-waster than a novel? Or a movie? Or chatting on here?

Nope! :P Not totally, anyway. I realize that a lot of times movies are big time-wasters, just like any other media, and I've been trying to lessen the time that I spend on them. But, I don't think that it needs to be given up completely. Neither do video games. My analogy wasn't quite correct - a lot of times we should tame and cage the birds, not kill them.

No! Later. Let's talk about violence in movies. How about… Marvel movies. Just for the dear sake that you know a lot about them. Tell me, why do these movies focus so heavily on destruction and killing? Is it to show people how to be brave? Or does it show people to put trust in their super power, which they don't have? To put reliance in God, or in FalconEye? To glorify peace or revenge? What is beneficial that you receive from these movies? Entertainment and what else?

Actually… I have seen 15% of Thor 1, 20% of the Avengers, Spider-man 1 and 2 and half of 3. Your naivety is amusing, seeing that I don't need to watch the movies, I only need to watch the trailers to see the "good reasons" to watch the movie are.
