The little social bar at the bottom of the screen seems to be either loved or hated. I'm pleased to announce that it is now optional. You can disable it on the profile page (Profile -> Profile ... I know, it's confusing)
The really, really cool aspect of this new feature is that it was implemented by our second volunteer developer, Alex Watt. Please feel free to start pestering him for new features :)
A week before the Bible Bee finals Alex contacted me and asked whether he can help contribute to Memverse. I said, 'Sure', and he started immediately. You can imagine my surprise when I saw him on the video winning the whole competition! As I've mentioned before, my vision is to have more people actively working on improving Memverse. All the source code is open-sourced on GitHub and now that I've dragged Alex through the process of getting set up and contributing it should be much easier for the next person!
One note on the toolbar: many people do use it to refer a friend to Memverse, share links to the leaderboards, popular verses, and the blog. That's the only reason it's there. We definitely are not storing any of your information.

Thanks for the work you've done, and all the work you will be doing, Alex! It's great to have this new feature!
Woohoo, Alex! Congrats--I've been wanting to get rid of that thing. After you delete it, can you get it back?
Oh- Congrats, Alex. Wish I was that famous. ;-)
An old one-- how about making a private messanger between users? Ever since that idea came out once, I've been excited...
Zachary,
I'm pretty sure that idea has already been put to rest. I'd give you a link to the blog post, but you were part of the discussion so I'm sure you know where it's at. :)
Even though Alex is now implementing new features, memverse still belongs to Andy who showed little interest in "reinventing the wheel" by adding a PM service. The meebo toolbar allows users to communicate when necessary by using your favorite IM service. You can chat using AIM, Facebook, Google Talk, and more without ever leaving memverse.
Alex, could you, if Andy agrees (Andy?), could you make an "Exit Exam" button on the Referance Recall" like the one on the Accuracy Test, please?
Zachary, good suggestion. Actually, there already is such a button--it is called "Done" and it is the equivalent of the "Exit Exam" button on the Accuracy test. I forgot it was there until I was just working on references today. :) I apologize for not getting back sooner.
Zachary, I would keep in mind that when you exit such an exam early it will mark that verse wrong. I experienced this a while back when I stopped a test early and it marked the 8 remaining verses incorrect and drastically lowered my Reference Recall percentage! Andy said he needed to work on it and change a few things, but I just thought I'd let you know.
Yes, I have sadly expirienced this--earlier it went from 99% to 81%. Grrrr. I was talking about one that worked like the Accuracy Test one, which does not drastically lower my Reference Recall percentage. Is this possible?
Welcome, Alex!!
Thanks, Andy and Alex. It's just that I can't use the toolbar at all because I have limited Internet access, and it was covering up some things. Thank you!
