*Please Read* I've noticed a trend among the character descriptions we've made so far...........almost everyone is skilled with a sword and bow! That's not bad, but it does give a sort of "cookie-cutter" feel to the characters. So, I've decided to create an ever-growing list of weapons that would be used in this time period. *Ranged Weapons* 1. Crossbow. A mechanical bow, easy to aim and shoot, but less range than a longbow. 2. Recurve Bow. A bow longer than the shortbow, but shorter than the longbow. The opposing curves gave it range, if not all the range and power of the longbow. 3. Longbow. A bow as long as the wielder is tall, the longbow requires it's user to have both strength, and experience in shooting bows. Has the greatest range and power of all the bows. 4. Shortbow. A short bow, used mainly for hunting. 5. Kunai/ Throwing Knife. A small knife, balanced for throwing. 6. Sling. A long strip of leather, with a pouch in between the grips on either side. 7. Javelin. A long, thin spear, suitable for throwing. *Close-Quarters Weapons* 1. Broadsword. A heavy, long sword. Requires great strength. 2. Longsword. A long-bladed sword, of a smaller width than the broadsword. 3. Shortsword. A short sword, of equal width as the longsword. 4. Scimitar. A weapon found mainly in the Southern Wastes, the Scimitar has founds it's way to Alavaria through trading. It is a long, curved blade, and equal to the broadsword. 5. Dirk. A blade of a length midway between the dagger and shortsword. 6. Dagger. A blade shorter than the dirk, often used as a companion to a sword. 7. Ladies' Dagger. Smaller than the dagger, the length of the blade is about the width of your palm. Easily concealed. 8. Kusarigama. A small sickle, attached to a chain that has a small weight at the end. 9. Katana. An exotic weapon, used by the warriors of the Eastern Kingdoms. It is a long, slightly curved sword with a chisel tip. 10. Nunchaku. Twin staves of dense wood, connected by a short chain. 11. Tessen. Folding fans with outer spokes made of heavy plates of iron which were designed to look like normal, harmless folding fans. Warriors could take these to places where swords or other overt weapons were not allowed, and some swordsmanship schools included training in the use of the tessen as a weapon. The tessen was also used for fending off arrows and darts, as a throwing weapon, and as an aid in swimming. 12. Mace. A ball of metal attached to the end of a shaft of dense wood. Sometimes studded with spikes, it requires a good amount of strength to wield. 13. Morning Star. A spiked metal ball attached to a chain connecting it to a shaft of dense wood. Also requires good muscle power to use effectively. 14. Battle Axe. ok so my *role-play character* Name - Rayna (Ray - na) Age - some where between 18 and 22ish.. (I'm not quite sure yet) Appearance - well built but thin, extremely agile, about 5, 7, wears a black dress cut off just above the knee (to keep her from tripping since she's kinda like... A medieval ninja. :P) with black leggings underneath. she is fair skinned but has a kind of dark beauty in her long wavy black hair (down to about the middle of her upper arm), which bring out her stunning blue eyes. Weapon - she is pretty much an expert at every form of martial arts ever know to Alivarians and some that r not known to them. She also has some skill with a bow and a sword. And naturally num-chucks, throwing spears, and small knives since they r often used in martial arts. Description - Rayna has an air of rebellion and acts completely carefree. But (on rare occasion) she can be very sensible and down to earth. Her face vents emotion and she always seems to have a plan brewing behind her bright blue eyes, a plan that usually has nothing to do with the real problem at hand. Despite her extremely confident demeanor, she is generally cheerful and almost always has a sort of mischievous spark in her eyes and she seldom dislikes a person that she meets. She is also an extreme extrovert and loves nothing better than a large group of people.

Couple things…

1. Ninja were medieval. They weren't made up in the '80s, they were real.
2. The weapon list has been re-posted. Choose the weapons she'll use.
3. You're basically trying to make her as awesome as possible so she can pwn everyone else. Nice strategy. You'll still get hurt though. And if you're wondering why, here's a fun fact:

The Marvel villain Taskmaster has a hyper version of photographic memory, which allows him to recall and execute perfctly anything he's seen, even if he's only seen it once, making him a master of many martial arts, archery, swordplay, and marksmanship. However, he couldn't beat Deadpool due to Deadpool's chaotic fighting style.

So, in case it wasn't clear, Noah's character could pwn you in a fair fight.

I think you're assuming too much. She probably didn't make her character awesome just so she could "pwn everyone else"; it was more likely just because she wanted to have an awesome character! ;)

Y'know, it's not exactly easy coming up with unique backstories for each character, not to mention that I have a reason for some action. We've already had an attempted kidnapping (Sussanna and Eryana), 2 kids who want to escape their homes (Wade and Madline Wons [whom Stefani has not used at all, BTW]), and 3 travelers (Turner and James and Victor). I'm trying, okay?

*Storyline* It has been 30 years since the Fall of the Council, and Alavaria has enjoyed peace. The era of kings is over, and Alavaria is governed by the new People's Assembly, composed of representatives from every major region of the Kingdom, and headed by the Committee of Five, the remaining heroes of The War of Freedom ( Still haven't decided on which five heroes. Kathryn is one, maybe Britton and William. Jimmy said that Ronan "...will not remain going South forever." in a recent post, so I take it to mean he'll die soon. Correct me if I'm wrong.). Under their leadership, Alavaria has thrived, becoming an international center of trade and commerce, known across the world. The capital of Alavaria is Kolath City, the City of Peace, and is home to the Hall of Assembly. The nobles live in the upper ring of the city (I've envisioned it as an enormous city surrounded by a circular wall, with two ascending levels of concentric circular walls within.), while the common people and most of the industry are in the middle and lower rings. It is here that the Guilds of Science, History, Military, and Religion are located, each teaching a specific facet of Alavarian culture. The guilds themselves are divided into sub-groups according the their many distinct parts, and the greatest minds of the kingdom come from them. In the midst of this oasis of peace and prosperity, there is a dark side. There have been rumors of trouble in the outer colonies, and one village was found completely empty, with houses and possessions intact, but the people gone. No one knows the cause of these events; some say that a band of notorious raiders, the Multaka, are to blame, others say that one of the old Council members has returned for revenge. Whatever the case, it is clear that troubled times are ahead for Alavaria................ So, what do you guys think?

Okay, thanks to Jimmy and his sis, I've come up with some guidelines for our RP. Here's what I've got: *1.* As we're just starting, the only kingdom we will be exploring in this RP will be Alavaria, the kingdom we're writing about in TSTNE. However, you may be a character from another nation, only in Alavaria. The timeline will be about -2- 30 years after the events in TSTNE. *2.* Overpoweredness and logic-defying actions won't be allowed here. This is to make it fair. So, if you're surrounded, no magic swords that can wipe out an army, or no apples that turn into ropes, or mercs with mouths who show with with machine guns. *3.* As this is *after* TSTNE, innovation will be allowed _to a certain extent_. A steam-powered boat is an example of an allowed innovation, but a machine gun, computer, or plastic cookie plate would not be allowed. *4.* When you create a new character, you will create a profile for them, listing name, age, appearance, weapon(s), and a brief description. For example: Jack the Ranger Age: 25 Appearance: Wears a black tunic over dark grey trousers, with black boots. He wears a dark cloak over the tunic, which is fastened with a broach that appears to be a flaming bird. Weapons: Longbow and throwing knives. Description: Jack is a serious individual, not given to small talk or silliness. He carries a great burden on his shoulders, after his family was slain during the raids of the Multaka a 5 months ago. He is a powerful warrior, and a good man to have at your side in a pinch. *5.* To talk to others *outside* of the RP, use the acronym for Out Of Character, OOC. To resume your character's actions, use the acronym for In Character, IC. For example: _I walk into the inn and see Carissa's character_ OOC: What's the name of your character again, Carissa? IC: _I walk over to her, and say_ "Where are the donuts you promised me?!"

*UPDATE #1*: The backstory of this time setting is that Alavaria has had a period of peace, following the War of Freedom (the name for the conflict going on in TSTNE). However, there are rumors of strange goings on in the outermost colonies of Alavaria. Some small villages have disappeared entirely, and no one knows why. There have also been an increasing number of coastal raids, but no large-scale attacks. Some say that a rogue member of the Old Council is back for revenge, and is gathering an army. Others say that another nation, Multakor, is to blame. This is my example backstory, that I think would be okay to use here. However, I am open to ideas and suggestions. If you guys feel we should scrap this backstory entirely, let me know. *UPDATE #2*: This RP will be placed about *30 years* after TSTNE, to give Jimmy and the other contributors room to write. Otherwise, if they didn't want to use the events that happen here, they can still continue the story without worrying about the timeline.

However Europe did have an equivalent substitute – the spy. Note#2--- the weapon list lacks pole arms (please research till “weapon list up date”) #2.5--- everyone has black hair (no Irish!!). With the exception of a few girls who are blond. Note #3--- it appears *we* (-- this includes me--) are completely disregarding the “futile system”(I'll play along, but if you all want to change anything...... I'll leave that to you) Note#4--- please bare in mind that armor is expensive (I pilfered most of mine of dead people) #4.5--- although swords are basic (and I can understand everyone having one) not everyone is the best swordsman and many of use will have to go to battle welding other weapons (depending on how realistic we want to be realistic) and I sacrificed more even more game time to give you the following. **gasp** [out of breath]

Anyway, here's my character. I haven't read the original story, so I would appreciate help when I need it.

Name: Aki Kyu
Age: Unknown, appears to possibly be late-teens to mid-twenties
Origins: Unknown, not from Alavaria
Description: White. White is the one word to describe her. Her long, straight hair is like a veil of snow, and her skin is milky white. Her robes and cloak are varying shades of gray, to add to her colorlessness. Only her eyes, red as blood, show signs of color. She wears a single jewel around her neck that changes color, though no one knows why.
Her temperament is quiet, but not shy, and she rarely shows emotion. She speaks her mind only when spoken to. Her weapons are of (whatever country/region resembles Eastern Asia) design, and she has been trained to be deadly accurate with them.
Weapon: odachi (Japanese sword), gundo (Korean bow)

And that's my character. If she isn't completely accurate, I will try to change that. Her appearance (hair, skin, eyes) will NOT change. That is my one absolute requirement for her character.

Here it is again I hope this is easier to under stand.

1. #1 was just for clarification (was kinda hoping to pull guns out over this one) I thought you were saying that ninjas were everywhere during the middle ages.

2. the weapons list is much appreciated. I personally did not know some of them (hats off to Altair).

3. everyone is simply there, as they are, with no refinance to cast of any sort. and the only educated guess that can be made is that nobody is a surf (which is understandable).

Assuming we will throw out the feudal hierarchy: I'll play along in this fictional world void (!!!)of the old and dearly beloved social cases that held the people in a form of bondage. And I'm sure we will all have a lot of fun doing things that would have appalled the chivalrous knights of old. For instance;-P :-).

Assuming we keep the feudal hierarchy: I'm sure more description will be along with time, it will be blinkers on our eyes and a thorn in our side, and disregard for the futile system was just an impression I got from not reading close enough (please see Wikipedia for clothing, styles, etc. I'm to lazy)

1. Once again the weapon list is appreciated vary much (just needs Pole arms and another Wik. link or two) and “Note #4” was more geared for people writing/editing their RP characters (I apologize if number 4 was taken personally. But I have an idea it wasn't).

I would like to add that it was normal for archers to have a short sword or dirk with them in battle.
