What books do you use?
biblebee
They are Scripture Songs written by Gloria Thorne. She just sets Scripture passages to music. But she doesn't have an online site or anything.

Do you take lessons or teach yourself (or does your sister teach you)? I know the basics of keyboard playing… that's about it.
Most of my siblings can play by ear (it amazes me how quickly they catch on like that).
biblebee
I do not take lessons…I teach myself. I can play best by sight reading but I can play some by ear.
His Servant
Well, it's kind of pointless to say what I did on Saturday…so, today I'll be doing school, celebrating my mom's birthday, chores, practicing piano, and just normal stuff =)
Ummm…no, Noah!
Sarah/Seth - I normally don't remember small-talk either. But, I do remember conversations with Seth, because we mainly weren't small-talking (in my opinion) - we were talked about Bible Bee! What have I been learning? A lot about prayer. Also, I've really been meditating on John 15:4 from the beginning of this year, and really realizing the great need for prayer because it only when we abide in Christ that we bear much fruit! What have you both been learning?
Sarah - Thanks =) I'm actually not sure what I'll be doing after I graduate. I might take a few on-line classes from our community college, but I doubt I'll try to major in anything. I'm really into music, languages and the world, so I'll probably make some studies for myself after I graduate, and I love studying the Bible and memorizing it, so I'll continue on in that! Oh! I'm definitely Italian and really like Italian food…pasta is one of my favorite foods! I'm also a bit Swedish, Scandivian and a wee bit Scottish too ;) I do play the piano, but I don't think I'm a master at it, by any means though. I'm sure Seth is. Yes, I'm on G+.
(Wow. That was too long)

I have to congratulate you, seeing as there is nothing else that can be done! Thou art, among men, the greatest of us all! Except me, of course.
BTW, aren't nice, young ladies awesome?
biblebee
Stop it please, Noah. Don't do that to Bethany.

Depends on the definition of "nice".
Seth W.
I don't thing there's a whole lot of water parks, but supposedly they're building the largest waterslide in the world in Kansas City, I think it may be done sometime this spring/summer. Considering that it's 15 degrees outside right now a waterslide doesn't sound particularly appealing, but maybe it will in the summer. :)
Well, some of it's small talk. :) In general if I learn something about the person (if you play an instrument, like tea, have 10 siblings, etc.) I'll tend to remember it, or even more so if it's something theological. I'll probably remember every discussion about beliefs/doctrine that I have, as long it goes on long enough and the other person actually has reasons for their argument besides personal opinion. I tend to get annoyed when people support their position with "I think" - because, in reality, it doesn't really matter what they "think".
Actually, I know quite a few girls who have at one time or other wanted to be a horse vet, so that's not extremely surprising. Do you have horses? Hmm… how could you possibly "prove" that? Do you mean "provide strong evidence adequate to convince" instead? :)
I don't think so… but I really don't know what a memverse 'spy' is, so maybe I am. :) I don't go around trying to find out as much as I can about everyone, if that's what you mean.
No, I'm not on google+, are you?
Seth W.
Thanks Carissa! goes off to listen to it
Seth W.
Okay, Sarah it is. :)
I wouldn't call myself an expert pianist… Bethany and/or Carissa can probably sight-read better than I can, my forte is playing hymns (identifying the chords, playing something underneath the melody line, and sometimes substitutions). Are you taking lessons?
Oh, so far I've picked out the songs, but now that I'm more comfortable with it the pastor's going to pick out the songs and send them to me. We have a liturgical service, so it's rather tricky for me to try to pick out songs that go well with the different parts of the service.
biblebee
Sure. Sorry for all my mess ups. Let me know what you think.

Actually, I was referring to Sarah. :) oops, bad communication.

I know you were just teasing…just don't do that to Bethany. ;-)

In this comment were you referring to Sarah? This is the one I replied to…

Well he needs to respect Bethany
Seth W.
You have a nice voice. I'm impressed you were able to play and sing at the same time so well - that's not easy (at least for me). Nice arrangement, too. I liked it. From the way you play, I would guess that you play a decent amount of classical music and also some hymns - am I right?
Seth W.
No, the "I got a nice young lady to put a picture of herself on memverse" was referring to Sarah - I've seen Bethany before (of course).
biblebee
Thanks :-) It was kinda hard to play and sing ;-) I play hymns mostly and if I could find some classical music I would play that as well…any suggestions?
biblebee
Okay.
Sarah B.
Aside from schoolwork I have been working on a Theology paper about Christmas. I’ve been doing a lot of cooking and baking this weekend. :)
Bethany- I guess everyone has there own idea of small-talk. I know my idea of small talk is very different from my sister’s… but no matter what the talk you still know Seth better then me. :)
Prayer has always been a subject that intrigued me. It is beyond my wildest dreams how God answers prayer. 1 Thess. 5:17 says, “Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for it is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” I always wondered how anyone could pray always with out stopping (It’s not something I’ve achieved mastery of yet). Prayer is certainly an important part of our walk with God and it affects our relationship with other people as well.
I’ve chosen Psalm 37:3-6 as my verses for this year. They are about trusting in, delighting in, and committing your way to the Lord. Those are my goals this year… and I am finding that it is so much easer to say it then do it all the time. I worry, I forget to delight, and I try to do things on my own a lot of the time. I would really appreciate it if you could pray for me in this.
(I think it’s best if there long that way we don’t have to write so many and we can take turns easier. ;)
Seth- I will try to remember what you said about people saying what they “think.” You have a very good point there. :)
No I have never had any animals except fish a chickens but I spend a lot of time on my neighbors farm and have kind of adopted their animals in a way.
If you would like to read my “proof” (I laugh now that I called it that) I could have Carissa or Bethany to email it to you, but I’m glad you don’t need it. I wasn’t really thinking a “horse vet” really… more like a locale farm vet the reason being that is what I keep being told is needed here in our area and I love working with a lot of different kinds of animals but only on a farm setting. I would be claustrophobic in a cramped building with a bunch of sick animals for days on end.
I would guess you are a spy in some way… I would rather ask questions and have conversation then spy on people all the time. :)
No I am not on G+ but lots of other Memversers would like me to.
Seth W.
BB discussions are kind of in a category of their own. :)
I really like Italian food as well - and I like Greek food, when I can get it.
I don't think it's really possible to have a 'too long' post. :) Unless it's on the TD's and you're repeating yourself over and over.
Sarah B.
No, I am not taking lessons but my sister does. I would very much like to take lessons but have lack the motivation to make that commitment. I will ask my sister to teach me what she is learning though. She is doing very well with her playing and looking forward to when she can play at church (when we get a new piano). :)
What I like to do most is sing! I really want to learn to sing parts to the Psalms.
Do you play any other musical instruments? I play the guitar… I'm not very good but I have learned a lot from teaching myself.
biblebee
Singing Psalms is so much fun!!! I think it would be lots of fun to take voice lessons :-)
Sarah B.
Have you ever heard of the Geneva Foundation? This is how I have learned (and continue to learn) the parts…
http://www.genevanfoundation.com/products/
biblebee
No, I haven't. I'll check it out.
Seth W.
I'm familiar with the Geneva Foundation, but to be honest I don't really like their music. :P Just personal preference, though - I know several people who really like it.
biblebee
What is their music like?
Seth W.
I started taking voice lessons for the first time last semester, and have really liked it so far. I have the problem that every time I hear someone sing I hear all this potential and want to give them voice lessons. :)
Sarah B.
Do you have reasons for not liking their music? You said somewhere else you tend to be picky about vocals so I’m not really surprised. Have you ever heard of “New Song”? What do you think of their singing?
biblebee
Ahh…I wish you could teach me.
Sarah B.
Me too! I would rather learn from someone I know then someone I just heard of and listened to on a CD. :)
biblebee
Yes!
Seth W.
I don't think there's anything 'wrong' with their music, I just don't personally like that style and tend to find it lacking from a musical standpoint. I've not listened to a lot of their music, though (only one or two cd's), so I may change my mind if I heard more.
I have not heard "New Song" - is that a good one? Overall I'm not not extremely impressed with their singing, but I think they're doing a great job with what they have.
Seth W.
Haha, If you both lived closer I would love to give you voice lessons. Okay, so instead of the waterslide maybe we should make this a short intensive musical training camp :)
biblebee
I wish we all lived closer!! Haha! That would be great! :-) So can you tell me any tips on here?
Sarah B.
I can understand that. Now I really wish you could teach me, because I don't even know what good singing should sound like. :\ Oh yes! You should start a musical training camp next! Just what you need to go along with school, playing piano, calling dances, and milking cows… lol
“New Song” is another singing group. I was looking for a link about them but this is the only thing I could find quickly. :P This is where you can buy their music…not really what I was looking for but: http://www.crownandcovenant.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=psalms%20of%20praise
biblebee
Maybe he sould record himself singing something so we can hear what good singing sounds like :-)
Seth W.
Not really. :(
Seth W.
Haha - I wouldn't say I'm an expert yet by any means. :)
EDIT - I'm working on an arrangement that I may try to get recorded, but it will be at least a month or two before that happens.
biblebee
Okay. Do you have anything to suggest to help me learn how to sing correctly? Is it possible to teach myself voice?
biblebee
But you're better then me! And that would really help :-) Please!
biblebee
So can you hear someone singing and then be able to tell them what they are doing wrong?
Sarah B.
Music is something you always are improving at… there is never an end to learning. You really should record something for us! or could you give us an example of good singing from someone else? Please!
In reply to your EDIT- Alright! We will be waiting! :)
Seth W.
Well, it's really hard to try to teach voice without actually seeing the other person, because so much of singing depends on how you are physically doing it.
