Pending Verses
You can now toggle your memory verses between 'Pending' and active status by clicking on the status from the 'My Verses' page. Remember that you can filter your verses by clicking on the magnifying glass on the right, next to the 'Feedback' tab, a.k.a. the only place to ever ask for help :).
I highly recommend that everyone trot over to the Account -> Profile page and update your target time. We recommend selecting one level below what you think you can manage. For instance, if you think you can manage ten minutes a day, select the 7 minutes per day setting because that will allow for the occasional missed day. We calculate the number of minutes per day to be roughly equivalent to the number of verses per day. So a setting of 10 minutes would mean you would review, on average, ten verses per day.
If you don't want Memverse to automatically convert verses from 'Pending' to active status over time then uncheck the box labelled 'Add verses as needed'.
My personal recommendation is that you let Memverse convert verses to active status as your daily work load drops below your target, rather than adjusting them constantly yourself. But if you're a competitive Bible memorizer (you know who you are!) then you might want to adjust the number of pending verses yourself.

Thank you! This makes it much, much easier. It was kind of annoying to have to wait for the page to load for every single verse I wanted to add. Would it also be possible to have a feature making it easier to tag verses in bulk?
Thank you so much, Andy!! This is way better than a "sabbatical" button!!! :) As always, great job. May God bless you and your family richly.
Wow, this is so cool! I just added a few verses and it is SOO much easier to just click on "Pending" to change the verse to "Learning." Thank you! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! This will make the process of status-changing a lot easier. :)
@Naomi Elizebeth: Whether or not the verses you enter are marked Pending or Learning depends on how you have set your preferred daily time. If you're already learning enough verses to make your daily time, it will set them as Pending; if not, it will set them as Learning.
Uh, I just went over those verses that I added. All of the words are correct, and the capitalization and punctuation were fine, but strangely, Matthew 6:9 actually made me write the quotation marks. It's nothing that bad, but it was just a little weird, since I've never had to do that before.
Oh, Wow! This is so wonderful! I had added all of Matthew 5, Matthew 7 and part of Luke 12 and took a little while to change them all to learning...actually, I gave up before I finished :) This is SO helpful! Thanks so much for all the work that you do on Memverse! It is a very helpful site for Bible memory.
"a.k.a the only place to ever ask for help :)"....very funny =)
Actually, people do answer your questions faster there, so I would recommend (as other people have alread said) to ask question there, not here.
This is my first year and I need some suggestions. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all this stuff this summer.
Well, Rachel, one thing that I usually do is to read the verse over and over and over and over and over and over etc until I can say it pretty well in my mind. Then I take the verse section by section and think about the wording and try to see how it connects with the other parts of the verse. This builds up my knowledge of the structure of the verse and greatly helps with reviewing it. Also, there was a post a while ago where a few commenters wrote down the ways they memorize and review. I can't remember where it was or how to make a link to it. Can anyone else?
@SBG: Here's the link to memorizing tips:

Is that what you were taking about?
You're welcome. You know, that if you every need to find a post...there is a search box on the side bar.
Actually, Bethany, I tried that, but it said something about the blog posts being filtered and it just took me back to this post. Anyway, I'm not completely sure how to make links to websites or blog posts.
With the pending verses feature, if I toggle a verse that I have already worked on from "Learning" to "Pending," does it reset the interval? Or, does it pick up where I left off once I toggle it back to "Learning"?
Thank you SO much for this feature! It adds a great dimension to an already-so-helpful tool :)
Grace - The interval and other information does remain. Please note, though, that when Memverse converts verses to "Learning" automatically, it does it in the same order that you added the verses. BTW: My brother and I responded to your question on the Bible Bee quiz post about possible dates for running a quiz. Thanks!
Thanks, Alex!
I did see the quiz date info. At this point, I can't confirm whether or not I can run the quiz on the 22nd until close to the end of this week. So, as soon as I find out, I'll let you know!
Rachel - NIV is the most popular version. :)
Josiah - Taking a poll on Bible translations was suggested during one of the quizzes...
I started to notice that the NIV is used a lot :) I only know of 3 ESV users...my sister, Grace and myself! Maybe we could get more...
@Joshua Harrell -- Yay! Another person for the ESV! Do you know of anyone else who uses it? BTW, Carissa is my sister :)
@Jamie So have I. My mom and Dad gave me my bible and it's cover has nearly fallen off so I have another "holder" for it. How do you put pictures in to your comment????
@Rachel--Gravatar. Of course, as I've said before, I don't know how to make links, but there is a link to it on the Profile page on the "Account" button at the top of the screen. I have used NIV my whole life too! (At least, as far as I know :) )
You just type the url of the place you want to make a link to in your comment, and it automaticaly makes it a clickable link. It's that easy. For example, www.memverse.com
Bethany, I know of Katelyn, Kyle Bumgardner, (neither of which are in the bible bee) myself, and my sister Charity.
@Joshua: Four more people using the ESV! What group are you in, in the Bible Bee? Is your sister, Charity, doing the Bible Bee? If so, what group is she in? I'm a Senior :)
Charity is a Junior, and this is her last year as a Junior. I am a Junior, too, and this is my second year as a Junior.
Andy - When I pend certain verses it automatically unpends a lot of them. For example, I have Romans 12 on MemVerse and I have vs. 3-5 and vs. 13 pended, but it automatically makes me review them every day. I do not have my profile set at "add verses as needed", but it does it anyway. Can this be fixed, please? Thank you.
Zachary - currently, you can't set specific verses in a passage to 'Pending'. Either the whole passage needs to be 'Pending' or everything will become active. When we have some time we will take another look at that design decision but the logic was become pretty complicated.
Thanks for this, Andy! I've been doing quite a bit of complete chapter memorization lately and being able to add them all at once as Pending really makes it a lot easier for me in the long run. When I'm ready to learn more of the passage I just click over the the My Verses page and make them active again.
