RP Training: Turner the Adventurer

"I see. Well, it was not more than an hour ago that I was out in the courtyard with my friend, Sussana, practicing with our swords. Shortly after we had begun practicing, 6 men appeared in the courtyard. Their leader claimed to be after my family's money, and was going to kidnap us. Soon Sussana and I were in a tight battle for our lives, as the leader decided we were too dangerous to keep alive. Sussana was badly wounded in her side, and it was only by God's grace that we both survived."

OOC: I don't normally say it to you.

You are very fortunate to have survived; those did not look like men that could be defeated by two young girls–begging your pardon. I assume then that you have had some training in combat?

"Well, as I said, it was the Lord who preserved us. But in answer to your question, yes, I have been trained since childhood. This was the first actual battle for me, I must admit, though."

I smile I'm assuming you are trained to use a sword, correct?

And I am glad that you survived it! Now, did those men happen to give any indication as to who they were? They were not carrying anything–at least, nothing that could be easily seen–that told of their identification. Did they say anything to you to reveal any such information?

Eryana chuckled slightly.
"Yes, trained to use the sword."
She turned back to Turner.
"No, not at all. But I am suspicious of who they truly are. For they could not have been any normal band of thieves. You saw their garments - and their armor - did you not? What thieves wear armor, or clothing that fine? And their skill far surpassed that of ordinary swordsmen."

Yes I saw. I am new to this land however, and don't know everything about it or the people who live in it.

I did see the armor, but I have seen many bands of thieves which equip themselves with it, and that did not arouse my interest. The fine clothing, however, did cause me to question; I personally know of no bandits who would clothe themselves with such attire. And you say that they were highly skilled; this is another helpful clue. I will have to investigate this matter further.

Eryana began to walk toward the hallway where she came from a few minutes before.
"Right this way, then. Did you travel far to get here?"

Yes, quite far indeed; though, perhaps not as far as my friend here. For a long time have I desired to come to Kolath City.

"Then you both must be tired, or at least hungry?"

I smile Thank you.

Indeed, I am both; but I am able to put that off for now, if we can first meet your father. We are eager to prove ourselves to him as worthy for this noble occupation.

"Very much so."
Eryana laughed.
"But yes, we must tend to this with my father first. And I am sure he will be very pleased with both of you."

I shrug I guess work comes before pleasure.

"I would not consider this work. I must admit, the whole incident was not just disturbing for me, but very frightening when it all took place. Who would expect a group of men to just appear in your courtyard, and eventually try to kill you?"
She almost shuddered, remembering how she felt when facing the men.

"Do you experience such things often? We never have, as you probably picked up already."

She knocked on the door, and then entered.

Eryana's father looked up Eryana! Oh no, it's not her. It's just all that has happened…. It's overwhelming!

OOC: Well, Nicolas referred to him as "Lord Ardren" in one of his posts, so I guess Ardren is his name. :)

IC: She sighed.
"Indeed it is. Father, I would like to introduce you to two young men: James, of Pennoh, and Turner. They would like to apply as guards here."

he looks up at Turner with a satisfied look, but he turns to me and frowns "Aren't you a little young?" I smile Young I may be, but skillful in combat I am also.

Now Eryana frowned.
"Father!"
She quickly softened.
"Father, you cannot judge one's ability merely by appearance. Damnon was going to test their skills a short while ago, when they…well, entered the courtyard. I explained the whole situation to them, and they both are ready and eager to help."

he stands up "Well then if their skills have not been tested, than shall we see how good they are?" he walks right out the door, and I look at Eryana in confusion Is he always like that? His mood suddenly changed.

"Not usually; but I think having a lot on his mind, he is rather absent-minded. I can never be quite sure with Father."
She then started toward the door.
"Wait a moment, Father!"

OOC: But if we responded according to what we knew you meant, that would be boring.

"Miss Eryana, Lady Susanna is stirring. Would you like to see her?"

OOC: Sussana, dude.

"Yes, yes, of course!"
Eryana turns.
"I will meet you both in the courtyard. Though I hope you are not too tired to go through my father's testing?"
