Volunteer on Memverse
We are hoping to do a better job in the future of helping volunteers get involved. In this blog post I'm going to outline some of the ways in which people can volunteer.
Like many organizations, there are currently three main components to Memverse:
- Marketing & Business Development
- Customer Support
One large, self-contained task that we can't seem to find the time to get to at the moment is the creation of an iPhone or Android application. If you would like to tackle this it would make us very happy.
The graphic design of the website (and print materials) is done by Emeka Rajis. If you are a talented graphic designer and would like to work on creating marketing brochures, letterheads, and improving the aesthetics of many of the pages on the website, let us know and we'll put you in touch with Emeka. He is putting together some design guidelines and you would work closely with Emeka.
Phil Walker is responsible for marketing and business development. He is currently focusing on two main areas: spreading the word about Memverse and creating partnerships with other organizations such as Bible Bee and Scripture Memory Fellowship. If you are interested in volunteering on this front, please contact Phil. This is a huge job and he could use a lot of help.
There is currently no one who is primarily responsible for customer support and this is a role we would really like to fill. Alex has been doing a stellar job responding to requests for help on the feedback forum and on the blog but I'd like to free up a lot of the time he spends doing this to work on the website and help implement new features. This role would be a genuine commitment to helping improve the experience of new users and interfacing with the engineering group to outline new features and understand existing ones. It would include all aspects of managing the community. Over time, we would hope to have a team of volunteers helping out with this role.
Finally, if you would have an idea for improving Memverse and would love to take the lead on implementing it, feel free to propose it. Email us with a short paragraph, a concept sketch, a plan, or anything that helps us figure out what your skills are and we'll be sure to point you in the right direction.
There is a lot to be done and we would welcome any help!

Maybe Marketing or Customer Support.
I would like to get more detail about this. Maybe at nationals?
Thanks you so much for this ministry!!
I do not know much about computer or web programing but it is something I would like to learn. :)
I'd love to help with something....maybe marketing or customer support! I don't think I could be able to set up business develope or create partnerships like Mr Walker, but I try to tell everyone I can about Memverse :) I copied the flyer that Dakota made, added my referral address and hand them out to people I meet that memorize scripture :) (that's okay, isn't it? :) )
What exactly is customer support? Answering questions on the Feedback tab?
Yes, Rachel, customer support would primarily involve helping out new users on the 'Feedback' forum, the blog, and Facebook.
It's definitely ok to add your referral address to the flyer.
I'm afraid I haven't been very good on helping on the feedback forum as of late... haven't looked at it for weeks... After Bible Bee is over, I'll try to get better at doing that as well as going back to trying to learn Ruby on Rails...
OH wow! This sounds like fun...except I really don't know how to do any of this stuff except for the marketing or customer support. I'd love to do this but I really don't have the time right now. :)
P.S. I've missed y'all on memverse!! :)
I'd love to help for customer support, but probably not until after the BB.
Marie, Rachel, and BBJ11, thanks for expressing interest in helping with the marketing of memverse. It is so neat to be spreading the word about Memverse which is Free and brings God all the glory as we help people get excited about, treasure, and memorize His Word.
I look forward to setting up a marketing team, working with others, getting your ideas and enjoying your help on my ideas as we introduce others to the benefits and joys of Memverse in obedience to MATTHEW 7:12.
2 random thoughts that I can't find another place for until I figure out why so many topics say they are closed:
1) We just hit 108,111 verses. Wouldn't it be fun if we could have hit 111,111 on this once in a century 11 11 11 day? With 3,000 verses to go, it is quite unlikely. Maybe if we had thought of it sooner we could have gone for it.
2) I could use a ride from the Northeast to Nationals in Nashville if anyone is driving down and would have an extra seat in the vehicle. (I will be in Clinton Corners, southeast NY, but could probably go a few hours south or west to meet up with anyone with an extra seat going the rest of the way)
HEY! I can edit/deleted ANYONE's comment! O_O Why?!
Mr. Walker: We're seven hours to the west, so, although we're driving down, I think we'd be a bit too far off for you :(
Yeah, it would've been cool to hit 11,111 today, but I don't think it's going to be happening...
Mr. Walker - We're also seven hours away in Southwest PA (like Josiah) and we have a full vehicle... :( Looking forward to seeing you in Nashville!
Okay :) off topic, but I now can only edit my comments.
Would you need help to clean up the tag cloud and the church leaderboards? Does that require knowledge about this ruby on rails system?
Yea, there are a lot of duplicates on the tag cloud!
A few questions:
1. What is tag cloud?
2. How do you get a pic.
@Phil, we would have room, but we are probably five or six hours west in NY. I think Dad wants to leave around 2 am tomorrow.
If you could get to the second Bath exit on I-86 we could probably pick you up. Google Maps says close to 2 hrs, 40 minutes.
@ Grace - go to www.gravatar.com and make an account on there with the same email that you use on MemVerse and upload a picture on your account to be your profile picture on MemVerse.
I would like to be on the customer support team! That sounds like fun and a good ministry. After the Bible Bee, of course.
